Privacy Policy

MindfulPause ("the extension", "we", "us") is a browser extension that replaces adult websites with a personalized pause screen. This policy explains what data the extension handles. The short version: we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

1. Data we collect

We collect nothing. MindfulPause has no servers, no analytics, no accounts, and no tracking. We, the developers, have no ability to see your settings, your browsing, or your activity.

2. Data the extension stores on your device

To do its job, the extension saves the following locally in your browser (using the browser's storage API and IndexedDB). This data never leaves your computer:

• Your settings (pause length, theme, Hard Mode, protection on/off).
• Your personal "why" — the text you write and/or an optional photo you add.
• Your custom blocked domains and any sites you choose to unblock.
• Your recommended-content links and your daily checklist items.
• Streak and habit data (clean days, urges resisted, and timestamps of when blocked pages were opened) used to show your progress.

You can erase all of this at any time by removing the extension, or by using the reset controls inside the extension. Uninstalling the extension deletes this data.

3. Permissions and why we need them

• Host access to all sites (<all_urls>) and declarativeNetRequest: required to detect when you navigate to a blocked site and redirect that tab to the local pause screen. The extension does not read, log, or transmit the contents of the pages you visit.
• Storage: to save your settings and progress locally, as described above.
• Alarms: to automatically re-enable blocking after a temporary "proceed" pass expires.

4. Third parties

The extension itself does not send data to any third party. If you choose to leave an optional tip, that payment is processed by a third-party payment provider (for example Stripe) on their own website. Any information you enter there is governed by that provider's privacy policy, not this one. Leaving a tip is entirely optional and is not required to use any feature.

5. Children

MindfulPause is intended for adults working to change their own browsing habits. It is not directed at children.

6. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version on this page.
